On behalf of our Academy Committee, our staff, pupils and myself, it gives me great pleasure, as Headteacher, to welcome you to the Upwood Primary Academy website. We hope this information will help you to get to know us a little bit better.

We are a welcoming and thriving village primary academy in Upwood, Cambridgeshire. We pride ourselves in being at the centre of our community, and therefore, building relationships with families, local businesses and residents is a big part of our journey to excellence. When any visitor walks round our academy, they comment on our happy children and staff who are all engaged in learning and development in an environment full of joy and laughter. You will often hear us refer to ourselves as ‘Upwoodians’, as we are proud to be part of the academy community.

Our beautiful grounds and surrounding areas provide our base for the quality teaching and learning of our exciting and challenging curriculum. Excellent academic achievement is very important, and we strive to ensure that all children make exceptional personal progress and are consistently ready for the next stage in their learning. We have an unwavering belief that every child CAN and WILL succeed, academically, emotionally, socially and creatively. We also aim to encourage children to be, ‘the best version of themselves’, by following The Upwood way and displaying our values of ‘Kindness, Resilience and Curiosity’. Developing positive attitudes and a growth mindset helps to build-up our children’s well-being, which is key to their individual successes, and feeling part of our wider academy community.

We are proud to be a part of Thomas Deacon Education Trust (TDET). Together, our Trust’s academies continue to grow stronger, by collaborating and sharing good practice within its settings.

Each day, I walk around our academy and feel a true sense of pride. It is both a privilege and an honour to lead a team of professional, talented and committed staff who provide well-planned and organised lessons and activities for children who are full of energy and have bright and ambitious futures. Together we ‘Work Hard, Dream Big’.
